J.D. Curls has been proudly serving as the District 1 representative for Operation Round Up since 2022. J.D. has called Suwannee County home since 1996. Although life took him away from Suwannee County a few times, the area’s charm and sense of belonging always drew him back. A graduate of Suwannee High School, J.D. pursued higher education with a degree in Golf Course Operations and a Bachelor’s in Health Science from the University of North Florida. In 2011, he married his wife, Jennifer, and together they are raising their daughter, Mallory.
Professionally, J.D. is a Benefits Consultant with Gallagher, where he specializes in managing employee benefits plans for companies of all sizes. He leverages multi-year strategies to help organizations contain costs while delivering sustainable and effective benefits programs.
J.D. is deeply committed to the growth and prosperity of Suwannee County and has served in various leadership roles within the community. He is an active member of the Live Oak Lions Club, where he has held the position of president and currently serves on the board of directors. His passion for education and supporting local teachers was cultivated during his tenure as a board member and past president of the Suwannee Education Foundation. Most recently, J.D. completed his term on the board of directors for the Suwannee County Chamber of Commerce where he served as president for 2024-2025, further demonstrating his dedication to fostering community development.
